A Golden Hour Sunset Maternity Session in a Miami Field
Some sessions are beautiful.
Some are meaningful.
And then there are the ones that quietly remind you why you do this work in the first place.
This sunset maternity session in a dreamy Miami field was one of those.
Izzi and I go way back—like wayyy back. She’s more than a client at this point. She’s a friend. A long-time believer. One of those rare people who believes in you even when you’re still learning how to believe in yourself. So when she told me she was expecting baby #2, my heart was already bursting before we even started planning the session.
When I asked what her vision was for her second maternity photoshoot, her response was simple and perfect:
“Girl, I don’t know… you tell me.”
And honestly? That’s where the magic happens.
Trust, Letting Go, and Making Magic (Even When You’re Running Late)
This session was real life from the start. We were running behind, the sun was moving fast, and we had about 40 minutes total to shoot. I’ll be honest—I was internally panicking a little. Sunset waits for no one, especially during a Miami field photoshoot.
But Izzi? Completely calm. So chill. She kept reassuring me, telling me I would make magic no matter what. And truthfully, her attitude was everything I needed in that moment. That kind of trust changes everything—not just the photos, but the entire energy of the session.
Styling the Session: Thrifted Finds, Client Closet Favorites, and Timeless Family Photos
Izzi showed up with a car full of thrifted skirts and props—pieces she’d carefully collected with so much intention. We played, we experimented, and then decided to start with a skirt from my client closet, which fit the setting and the light perfectly. I like to say it's "the sisterhood of the traveling skirts" because somehow it fits everyBODY.
Later, we changed into a more classic, timeless dress for family photos. That outfit change gave us the best of both worlds: something creative and expressive, and something clean and classic that will never go out of style.
This is one of my favorite things about maternity sessions—allowing space for personality, while also creating images that feel timeless and emotional.
A Miami Sunset Maternity Session Filled With Growth
This session felt extra special because of how much growth it represented. From Izzi’s first maternity session to this one, so much has changed—within her family, within mine, within my business, and within my photography style and skill.
Photographing her again reminded me just how powerful it is to document families over time. These aren’t just photos. They’re chapters. Proof of growth, love, and seasons changing.
As a Miami maternity and family photographer, these are the sessions that stay with me long after the gallery is delivered.
Why This Session Meant So Much
This shoot wasn’t about perfection.
It wasn’t about having endless time or a rigid plan.
It was about trust, connection, and believing that no matter what, you’ll walk away with photos you’ll cherish forever.
Izzi—thank you for trusting me, for believing in me, and for being such a huge part of my journey. I’m so honored to document this season for your growing family, my friend.
