Not every maternity session has to be soft and serene, sometimes, it’s lively, loud, and filled with laughter... just like the couple you’re photographing.
This studio maternity session was such a joy to capture because it reflected exactly who this couple is: full of energy, creativity, and heart. From the moment they walked in, I knew we were going to have some fun — they sing, act, dance, play music, and fully embrace the beautiful, chaotic season of life they're in.
Starting with the Classics
We kicked things off with some traditional maternity portraits — glowing mama, adoring partner, and quiet anticipation of what’s to come. These are the timeless shots that every family deserves: soft lighting, sweet embraces, and baby bump moments that feel dreamy and full of love.
But then... things got real.
Real Life, Right Now
For the second half of the session, they pulled out all the stops: a laundry basket full of clothes, video game controllers, a messy side table stacked with books, bongos, and all the quirks that make this season theirs. The idea was to capture not just who they are becoming — parents — but who they are right now: creative, playful, a little messy, and totally in love.
This custom set was designed to feel like their real life — the beautiful in-between moments that often get overlooked. It was raw, hilarious, and incredibly refreshing.

Maternity photos don’t have to fit one mold. While the classic belly-holding, serene smile shots are absolutely beautiful, so are the unfiltered, personality-packed moments that show who you really are as you prepare to become parents. This session was proof that there’s room for both.
