a heartwarming studio session
There’s something so special about photographing milestone sessions, and Zoey’s first birthday was no exception. Her family came into the studio dressed beautifully in soft neutrals with the sweetest pops of lilac, a timeless color palette that felt both classic and playful, perfect for celebrating such a big milestone.
When mom and I were planning their outfits, she mentioned her two daughters, so I was expecting two little girls. Imagine my surprise (and delight!) when they arrived with three! The third girl was their cousin, who they love like another sister. It instantly made my heart melt. There’s just something about cousins growing up together that feels magical, and watching the bond between the three of them was honestly so heartwarming.
The girls were so natural in front of the camera because their love for each other is just that genuine. They laughed, hugged, and doted on little Zoey in the sweetest ways, making my job easy. These kinds of sessions remind me why I’m crazy about capturing connection, it’s not about the perfect pose, it’s about the way families truly love on each other.
As someone with sisters of my own, this session also gave me a glimpse of the future. I found myself daydreaming about the day my sisters have babies, and how incredible it will be to watch our kids share those same kind of cousin-sibling bonds.
Zoey’s first birthday session was filled with love, laughter, and all the little moments that make family photography so meaningful. I can’t wait for this family to look back at these photos years from now and see not just how little their girls were, but also how strong their connection was - even at such a young age.
