The lighthouse + Your belly
Key Biscayne will always be one of my favorite places for maternity sessions. Between the historic lighthouse, the sweeping shoreline, and those glowing Miami sunsets, it’s the perfect backdrop for capturing love, anticipation, and the beauty of motherhood. This session was no exception—but let me tell you, it came with quite the adventure.
From the moment we stepped onto the sand, the wind was howling. Think: hair flying, dresses whipping, and what felt like a full-on sandstorm against our legs. For a split second, we all wondered if the weather would work against us. But one thing I’ve learned as a Miami maternity photographer is that sometimes the wildest conditions create the most breathtaking results—and this evening proved exactly that.
As the sun began to set behind the iconic Key Biscayne lighthouse, the sky lit up in hues of gold and soft pink. The wind that we had been fighting all evening suddenly worked in our favor, adding movement and drama to every single frame. Melissa looked stunning as her dress billowed around her bump, her joy and anticipation shining through despite the whirlwind. Dad held her close, grounding the moment with pure tenderness.
And then there was that quiet magic—the way the waves crashed louder than the wind, the way the sky deepened into twilight, and the way this couple laughed through it all. That’s what I love most about sessions like these: even when nature throws a challenge our way, love and connection always shine brighter.
By the time we wrapped, we were covered in sand, our hair wild, but our hearts full. What could have felt like chaos turned into one of those unforgettable sessions where everything aligned—raw, real, and absolutely magical.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a maternity session that feels like an adventure, Key Biscayne is the place. Even on the windiest nights, the lighthouse stands tall, the sunsets glow, and the result is always more beautiful than we could ever plan.
