A BEACH SESSION I'M STILL THINKING ABOUT


I loved this session! This family was so cute, and the whole session just felt easy and fun. You know those sessions where everything seems to come together? This was one of those. Miami Beach gave us such a beautiful backdrop, too. There’s so much variety here—from the shoreline and soft sand to the water and all the little spots in between. We were able to move around, play, explore, and capture a little bit of everything without the photos ever feeling too much alike.

And honestly, I think that's what I love most about beach sessions. There’s always room for those sweet, posed family photos, but there’s also plenty of time for the silly, playful, in-between moments that really show off everyone's personality.

This family brought so much of that to their session, and I couldn't wait to share some of my favorites with you!

SO MANY WAYS TO PHOTOGRAPH A BEACH SESSION


One of my favorite things about photographing at Miami Beach is that we don't have to stay in one spot. There are so many little pockets around the beach that give us something different to work with. We can get those classic beach photos by the water, wander through the sand, play in the waves, and find some beautiful greenery along the way. I love having that variety because it keeps the session moving and gives your gallery a little bit of everything. Some photos can be sweet and cuddly, some can be playful, and some are just those completely unplanned moments that happen while everyone is having fun.

THE LITTLE MOMENTS ARE MY FAVORITE


With a baby at the beach, there are just so many sweet little moments to capture. Those tiny toes in the sand, the curious looks at the water, little hands reaching down to feel the sand for the first time—it’s all too cute. I loved watching this little guy take in everything around him. The beach is such a fun place for babies because there is so much for them to see, touch, and explore. And honestly, some of my favorite photos from this session are the ones where he’s simply sitting in the sand, taking it all in.

OKAY, BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THOSE BEACH PHOTOS?


I mean… come on. A baby in the sand at Miami Beach is pretty much as cute as it gets! There’s something so fun about letting little ones experience the beach during their session. The sand, the water, the breeze, and all the new things around them give us so many natural moments to photograph. And when you add in those tiny baby expressions and curious little looks, I’m basically in photographer heaven.This is also why I love keeping beach sessions relaxed. We can take our time, let baby explore, and capture all those little reactions along the way. Sometimes the best photos happen when we aren't trying too hard to make a photo happen.

AND THEN CAME THE CAKE!


As if this little beach session wasn't already cute enough, we ended the day with a cake smash! I love when a session can include a few different things, especially for a little one's milestone. We got all the sweet beach photos, let him play in the sand, and then finished with a little birthday fun.And yes, he got into the cake! There were definitely some messy little fingers, big smiles, and plenty of adorable moments to photograph. It was the perfect way to wrap up such a sweet session.

Honestly, I don't think we could have ended it any better.

FALL IS COMING, AND I'M READY FOR MORE BEACH DAYS


August may still be doing its thing here in Miami, but I'm already looking forward to those cooler fall and winter days. We may not get the changing leaves and sweater weather that other parts of the country do, but we do get some of the best weather for spending time outside. If you've been thinking about a beach or park session, fall and winter are such a fun time to do it. The weather is a little more comfortable, the light is beautiful, and there are so many gorgeous outdoor locations around Miami to explore.And after photographing this sweet little guy in the sand, I'm definitely ready for more beach sessions!
